JIESHUN Upgrades Smart Parking at Shantou Logistics Park

Jun 23,2026

Along Daxue Road in the Jinping District of Shantou, the Shantou Logistics Center operates as one of the key freight hubs in eastern Guangdong. Covering approximately 120 acres and home to nearly 100 logistics companies, the park handles around 500 truck movements and 8,000 tons of cargo every day.

As business volumes continued to grow, the park’s traditional parking management system could no longer keep pace with operational demands, creating mounting challenges in efficiency, labor costs, and revenue management.

Management Challenges: High Costs, Low Efficiency, and Revenue Leakage

Before the upgrade, parking operations at the logistics park relied heavily on manual processes, resulting in several major operational pain points.

1. Heavy Dependence on Manual Labor

The park operated four traffic lanes with 24/7 staffing requirements. Two attendants working in rotating shifts were needed for vehicle registration, fee collection, and gate operations, creating long-term and inflexible labor costs.

2. Inefficient and Disputed Billing Methods

Parking fees were calculated based on truck length, but attendants had to visually estimate vehicle sizes and manually enter vehicle types. This process was time-consuming and prone to errors, often leading to disputes between drivers and staff.

3. Aging Systems and Operational Loopholes

The existing parking system lacked stability, with occasional crashes and missing transaction records affecting both operational reliability and driver experience. Manual intervention also created opportunities for unauthorized fee waivers and revenue leakage.

To address these challenges and improve both operational efficiency and user experience, the logistics park launched a smart parking upgrade project in October 2025, introducing JIESHUN’s AI-powered smart logistics park solution. The new system officially went live at the end of December the same year.

The Solution: AI-Driven Digital Transformation for Logistics Parking

To solve the park’s operational challenges, JIESHUN redesigned the entire workflow—from vehicle entry to on-site management and exit operations. The goal was clear: standardize operations, reduce labor dependence, eliminate revenue leakage, and improve traffic efficiency.

1. AI Vehicle Recognition for Accurate Automated Billing

To address the core issue of truck-length-based charging, JIESHUN deployed advanced AI vehicle recognition systems at the entrances and exits.

Using multi-angle visual analysis, the system automatically identifies key vehicle attributes, including vehicle type, truck length, axle count and trailer attachment status.

With highly accurate recognition capabilities, the system automatically links license plate data with vehicle specifications upon entry and applies the correct pricing rules without manual intervention. This eliminated disputes caused by subjective judgment and ensured fair, transparent billing.

2. AI Cloud Management Enables Unattended Operations

To reduce reliance on on-site staffing, the project adopted a cloud-based remote operations model.

The parking lanes now operate without fixed on-site attendants. In exceptional situations such as damaged license plates, unregistered vehicles, or complex trailer scenarios, the system automatically connects drivers to JIESHUN’s 24/7 cloud service center.

Remote operators communicate with drivers through video intercom, verify vehicle information, and complete gate authorization remotely.

This shift significantly optimized staffing requirements, allowing the logistics park to reassign personnel from toll booths to higher-value tasks such as on-site inspections, traffic coordination, and customer service.

3. Standardized and Transparent Operations

The upgraded system digitized and standardized the entire parking management process. From vehicle recognition and parking duration tracking to online payment and electronic invoicing, every step is automatically recorded by the system. Each transaction is linked to corresponding vehicle images and timestamps, ensuring full traceability and financial transparency.

By minimizing manual intervention, the system effectively eliminated unauthorized fee waivers and improved revenue protection.

Real Feedback from the Logistics Park Management Team

During a follow-up interview after the project launch, Mr. Chen, Operations Manager of the logistics park, shared his experience:

“One of our biggest headaches used to be arguments between attendants and drivers over truck length classification. Now the AI system identifies vehicle types automatically, and the data speaks for itself. Disputes have dropped dramatically.”

He added: “More importantly, the old problem of unauthorized fee waivers has almost disappeared. Every transaction now comes with vehicle images and complete records, making financial reconciliation much clearer and more transparent. At the same time, we’ve reassigned former toll booth staff to on-site inspections and customer support, which has actually improved overall park management.”

By reducing operational uncertainty through technology and data-driven management, JIESHUN has helped the logistics park transition toward a smarter, more efficient operating model.

This project serves as a valuable reference for logistics parks seeking digital transformation and intelligent parking management upgrades.
